The Stackyard Nursery specialises in trees, shrubs and perennials.

We have over a thousand trees in stock ranging from fruit, native through to some very unusual specimens. If you require a sapling or a semi mature specimen then a walk around our tree lines will find something special for you. Our stock is often replenished from specialist local growers so if we don’t grow it here we can source it for you.

We will not sell you a tree that is not suitable for your garden. Speak to Karon about the most suitable plants for your garden, soil type and aspect. For details of the trees in stock click on the Nursery Stock page.

We are always asked “when is the best time to plant a tree?”

This depends on you, ok not a good answer but true. If you are going to be away through the summer for a holiday then you must take this into consideration, even the best of friends might forget to water your plants and if we have dry summers as the last few have been you will lose your tree or at least set it back.

There are two types of planting options, bare root trees that are planted when they are dormant (asleep), they are planted in late Autumn, Winter or very early Spring depending upon the weather conditions. Pot grown which can be planted anytime, this gives a great deal of flexibility and you can get a more mature tree, particularly important in some circumstances.
